Touching Upon the Subconscious Mind

We basically have 3 different aspects of the mind, the conscious or thinking mind, the unconscious mind or intuition and the subconscious mind.

Your subconscious mind tends to run the show when it comes to the body processes and automatic reactions. It is the mind that is mostly in control of all that is happening with your physical body - which is quite right too because if you had to think about and process all of the billions of bits of information you receive every second from just having your eyes open and all of the billions of processes your body needs to perform every second to just keep breathing and moving, you'd go a little nuts!!

However, the subconscious brain, in most of us, is also 'in control of' most of our thinking, emotional reactions and choices, for 1000s of years we have relegated our responses to the domain of the subconscious mind, how many times have you consciously questioned what you believe, why you believe it and how it affects your choices? Isn’t it time to take back that mastery within?

We tend to make choices and react to circumstances based upon our belief systems. Our belief systems are those programs we run from, the things we have decided are true for life, and for us and hence become part of our reactionary programming, our subconscious responses.

These could be ideas like, money is hard to come by, relationships aren’t easy, good things happen to those who wait, everyone gets disease, disintegration happens as you get older. These are the things we believe to be true and even rely on to play out in our lives as true.

Most of these beliefs have come from outside sources, such as our parents and friends, as children, until the age of about 6 we are constantly imprinting the ideas, beliefs and role modelling of our parents and/or primary caregivers, even the people we spend time with most, and, unfortunately, many of these beliefs that we acquire and decide are true, we have never actually paid attention to or questioned whether they are right for us.

The subconscious mind is the mind that keeps us reacting from these belief systems (whether they serve us or not) based upon the perception that these learned belief systems are what keeps us safe in life, hence, we are constantly reacting, feeling and behaving from the perspective of keeping the old belief systems in place - belief systems that may not even serve us or equate to what we are trying to achieve in life.

For instance if you have a belief that money is hard to come by, or that your family is salt of the earth hard workers, then you may struggle to get ahead financially no matter what changes you make, because your belief system is designed around a certain image of you, your family and your lot in life. In which case, any changes you attempt to create may be met with inner resistance unless you alter your belief system at the same time.

The subconscious mind is a powerful thing, that takes much observation and training to release its hold on your reactions and behaviours, but, once mastered, changing, dissolving, releasing and collapsing the subconscious beliefs and programmes that hold us in place can lead to massive and instant changes in life.
